Thirukazhukundram
Thirukazhukundram (Tamil: திருக்கழுக்குன்றம்) or Thirukkalukundram is an ancient town in Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu.
The town is famous for its Hindu temple, popularly known as Kazhugu koil (Eagle temple). The word Thirukazhukundram comes from the Tamil words Thiru (Respectful), Kazhugu (Eagle), Kundram (mount). It was known as "Thirukazhugukundram" in ancient times which was changed to Thirukazhukundram in more recent times.
The four Naayanmaars and the greatest Saiva poets Appar, Sundarar, Manickavasagar, Thirugnanasamandhar collectively known as 'Naalvar' came together at this place and sang the praises of Lord Siva and there is a separate temple dedicated to them in the place called 'Naalvar kovil'. Tamil devotional poet Arunagirinathar composed many of his hymns of Thirupugazh in Thirukazhukundram.
Mahindra City IT park
Mahindra World City, New Chennai is India's first operational Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and India's first Integrated Business City is promoted by the Mahindra Group and TIDCO (Govt of Tamil Nadu Enterprise).
Sitiuated on the NH45, Mahindra World City is located 60 km from Chennai city and is 45-50 mins away from Chennai international airport. Spread over 1,500 acres (6.1 km2), Mahindra World City is well connected by both road and rail links, with Paranur railway station on site
OMR IT Highway
For close to a decade, the OMR or the IT highway, more specifically the first 20km from Madhya Kailash to Siruseri, has been the biggest growth engine for Chennai city. It provides jobs to about two lakh IT professionals and this is expected to grow by another lakh over the next year.
Since 2005, about 20,000 families or one lakh people have moved into houses on and off the OMR. It became an alternative residential hub after property prices went through the roof in the city, rendering it out of bounds for the middle class.
After initial hiccups like lack of social infrastructure schools, hospitals and other commercial establishments the standard of life is slowly improving on the OMR. Many standalone retail outlets like Ekbote furniture, HiStyle, Shah's Appliances, Waves, Samsung Plaza, Capital Honda Motors, Hyundai Plaza, E Zone and Zentrum are already operational there.
